Macular Degeneration and Me

Macular Degeneration is the leading cause of vision loss for people over the age of 60. The website MacularDegeneration.Net gives people with this disease resources to manage its effects and ways to improve their quality of life.

The macula is the very center of the retina. It is responsible for fine vision.

.My diagnosis was completely unexpected. I went to do a pre-operative test for eyelid reduction surgery. The right eye was fine. All I saw was a blur with my left eye.

Three days later I was diagnosed with “wet” macular degeneration had my first injection of Lucentis, a drug developed to stop the progress of the disease. . That was almost three ago.
